Lewis Miller
1829-1899
Lewis Miller was born in Greentown, Stark County, Ohio. on Augest the 24, 1829. Worked as a Plasterer,& Teacher. between 1846 and 1851. In 1851 became a member of Ball,Altman & Co., which manufactured stoves, plows, threshers,and repers. Founded Aultman, Miller & Co,in 1864, which made farm machinery. Invented the Buckeye mower & reaper, and the Table-rake(1865). Plus many other labor-saveing devices.
School board member for many years. Was connected to Mount Union Collage, Ohio Wesleyan University and Allegheny Collage. Founded the first Sunday School of the First M. E. Church. Where he was the Superintendent. Was a member of the City Council.
Was Married on Sept16,1853, to Mary D Alexander, of Plainefiesd, Ill., They had eleven Children Including Mina Miller the wife of Thomas A., Edison.
