BAUER, BECK, BEGLEY, HOUGLAN, MIKSCH, ORD, REAGLE, REMINGER, SERFASS posted by Terry R. McGuire on Wednesday, June 10, 1998

I am looking for information on the family DANIEL REAGLE III and his wife ELIZABETH SERFASS. Daniel came was born in 1831 in Upper Mt. Bethel PA and died 1904 in Loyal Oak. He married Elizabeth Serfass the daughter of Andrew Serfass of Loyal Oak. I was not able to find Daniel in the census indices so I suspect that they might have lived with the Serfass family. My family records suggest that Daniel and Elizabeth had five children: Catherine (1957), Jane (1860), Jacob (1860's), Ella (1874) and Frank (1968). Catherine married George Beck of Medina Co, Jane married Edward Miksch of Barberton, Jacob married Orpha Serfass of Doylestown, Ella married Arthur Houglan of Johnson's Corner, Ohio and Frank died single. According to the book "the Genealogy of Conrad and Elizabeth (Borger) Hawk" by Atwood Shupp. They had additional children Hazel who married Willis Bauer, Esther who married William Begley. Mada who married William Reminger, and Martha who married Mr. Ord. Frank is also misnamed as George. I suspect that Mada and Martha Reagle are Jacob's twin daughter (not his sisters) born 1908. I do not know who Hazel and Esther are. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone with any information on any one of the above people.

BOLT, BUDD posted by Richard Bolt on Thursday, June 18, 1998

Do you have any advice as to how to get this data? If you know where to go to look, I am in for pay. Dick Archivest: I do not know what you will look up for a citizen, nor how close the provide info. has to be for search. Please help. I am looking for Naturalization records of my Grandfather, George Thomas BOLT. This could be: application for Citizenship, Declaration of Naturalization & Registered to vote, or Alien docket. secondly Julias naturalization if she needed one. Re, marriage to William BUDD, likely a US citizen then. George was born in November 1864 in Canada. From family hand-me-down information, he was born in St.Catherines, Ontario in November 1864. Birth year is confirmed from US 1870 census. George and his mother, Julia ( Garrow or Garrah) BOLT moved to US in approx. 1865-1868. Julia remarried to a William BUDD in Summitt County Ohio in 14 May 1868. Julia & William lived in Chargin Falls near Cleveland. Chagrin Falls existed in two Ohio counties. It is my understanding they lived in Cuyahoga County section. George was listed as a son of William BUDD in Chargrin Falls, Ohio census of 1870. George was listed in 1870 census as 6 yrs old. William was really his step-father. George later regained his birth name ( not sure he ever lost it!) and was married in Summitt County in 1886. I have a copy of that entry that provides no help on birth date or place, nor fathers name! Family info, says mother & son entered USA via Buffalo, NY. I do not know the exact year George was naturalized. Based on assumed USA arrival of 1868 & 5 yrs in US rule ( if true), period would be 1873-1882 when he would have been 18. Census of 1900 said George was in US 15 years (1885) ! We know this is incorrect as he & his mother was listed in census of 1870. So, it may be a clew he was a US Citizen for 15 yrs, so best guess on start for Naturalization search would be 1885?

HAINES, HAYNES posted by Evelyn Brown on Tuesday, June 23, 1998

My ancestor Daniel Haynes (spelled Haines sometimes) was listed in "Fifty years and Over of Akron and Summit County" as the first white settler in Coventry Township, Summit County, and that he died 35 years earlier than the book's publication, but the microfilm I read did not have the publication date. I'd like to know that, and if possible the name of his Daniel's wife. He had at least 2 children, Benjamin, and Joseph. Also I'd like to verify that he received his property as bounty land from the Revolutionary War.
