HUDSON

Settled 1800 by Deacon David Hudson. Originally part of Portage County.

Hudson Happenings:

The first official marriages in Summit County were those of Jotham ATWATER and Miss Laura KELLOGG of Hudson and Mr. Joseph DARROW and Miss Sally PRIOR of Hudson. (April 3 and April 17, 1803).

John Brown (the abolitionist) came with his family to Hudson in 1805

James W. Ellsworth was born in Hudson.  He later went to Chicago and became a millionaire coal operator.  His son Lincoln was a famous explorer and traveler.

The first physician in Summit Co resided in Hudson in 1800. His name was Moses Thompson (1776-1858).
