Dates of records for Summit County:
Birth & Death Records (prior to 1867) - Birth & Death records were not recorded by law until 1867. Although some records from a few counties predate 1867, records of births & deaths in Ohio are generally not available before this date. Records for the years 1867 through December 20, 1908, are in the Probate Court.
Birth & Death records after 1908 are maintained in one of the two Summit County Health Departments. at their three locations. (Note: the health departments have changed as of Oct. 1, 2010)

Marriage Records - 1840 to Present. There are four types of marriage information books at the Summit County Probate Court:

Probate records - 1840 to Present (Wills, Estates, Guardianships & Trusts) are in the Probate Court.
Court Records - 1840 to Present (Civil & Criminal records, Divorce records & Naturalization), are in the Clerk of Courts.
Coroner's Reports from the late 1800's to the present, can be requested from the Coroner's Office
