enlisted in the US Army 3 October 1881 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served from 3 Oct1881 to 24 Oct 1896. Some of the Post he served at were: Fort Halleck, Nevada , Fort Niobrara, Nebraska and Ft McKinney, Wyoming. He served the majority of his time with Company E, 8th Infantry Regiment. He was discharged at Russell, Wyoming on the 24th of October 1896. He was an infantryman and a musician and his character was considered to be execllent.
